Indian woman Sarabjeet Kaur\u2019s story is not just a legal case or a diplomatic issue, it is the anguished account of a woman pleading for her freedom. Trapped in Pakistan for three years after travelling on a religious pilgrimage visa, Sarabjeet remains confined to a shelter home in Lahore, separated from her family in India and, according to her husband, living in constant fear.<\/p>\n
Speaking to CNN-News18, Sarabjeet\u2019s husband, Karnail Singh<\/a>, broke down as he described the ordeal his wife has endured. He alleges that Sarabjeet was blackmailed by a Pakistani man, Nasir Hussain, who first contacted her through social media. Singh claims Hussain secretly recorded private videos and took photographs of Sarabjeet, later using them to threaten and control her. \u201cHe sent those pictures to me, to our family members, to her brothers," Singh said, calling it a deliberate attempt to shame and terrorise them into silence.<\/p>\n The most haunting evidence, Singh says, lies in the audio and video recordings now accessed by CNN-News18. In them, Sarabjeet can be heard crying, her voice trembling as she pleads with her husband to rescue her. She tells him she is not free, that she is being held against her will, and that she wants to return home. Her sobs, captured on the phone, reveal a woman broken by fear and isolation.<\/p>\n According to Singh, Sarabjeet was threatened at gunpoint and forced into a marriage she never consented to. He alleges she was also coerced into converting to Islam, her choice taken away through intimidation and violence. \u201cEverything was done on gunpoint," he told CNN-News18, insisting his wife never agreed to any of it willingly.<\/p>\n Singh says Sarabjeet\u2019s health has suffered gravely during her confinement. She is depressed, he claims, and her blood pressure frequently reaches dangerous levels. Each call from her, he says, leaves him feeling helpless. \u201cShe keeps asking me to help her, to bring her back," he said, his voice shaking. \u201cI have every recording of her crying and begging."<\/p>\n The pain deepens with another chilling allegation: that Nasir Hussain kidnapped Sarabjeet Kaur\u2019s three sisters to further pressure the family. Singh has repeatedly appealed to the Pakistani authorities to act, urging them to release his wife and punish those responsible. \u201cI request the Pakistan government to free my wife," he said. \u201cShe is suffering every day."<\/p>\n For now, Sarabjeet Kaur waits in a Lahore shelter home, her fate tied up in court hearings and bureaucratic delays.
